Arrival in Moscow

Entry into the hostel and first settling in the new environment

February 27, 2016 in A journey through Russia

This morning at 7 o’clock I went to the Frankfurt Airport. From there, the Airoflot machine in the direction of Moscow started punctually at 11:15. The plane landed already after 3 hours at 16:10 (with 2 hours of time difference). However, it took until 16:45 before I was through the passport control and got my luggage. At the exit the taxi going to Dmitrovka Hostel already waited for me. In this hostel I will stay the next 5 days. It is a small hostel with a family atmosphere. My room is right next to the front desk, so I can hear everything that is spoken there. I can hear it but do not understand what is spoken. Possibly one reason why it is not so much of a bother to me. After an introduction into the hostel-environment, there are several rooms and two bathrooms shared by the guests, I was given a short introduction to the surroundings as well. The hostel operator walked with me to the nearest supermarket and showed me a restaurant serving Russian cuisine where I then had my lunch / dinner. Then I went back to the hostel. Except for the hostel operator I did not yet encounter a single Russian speaking at least a little English. I hope this won’t stay like that!?
